What becomes of a space when imperfections are celebrated instead of shunned? Look no further than this high-soaring residence by InD’finity Design. A condominium of 1,570 square feet, this Bukit Jalil home embraces raw elements for all its worth, even its ‘faults’. Having personally chosen the township directly facing acres of lush green parks, InD’finity Design stated the client was in search of calm surroundings and wanted usage of natural materials wherever possible. Part of nature is imperfection, but here at Mr. Lim’s Condo, every ‘flaw’ is a mark that makes the space perfect.
The opening scene into the home is one of cozy, soft textures and warmth-inducing materials. The reeded entertainment wall in the living area is coated in a unique pitted textured paint, and nearby, a locally handcrafted rattan screen divider injects an extra dose of nature into the space. In fact, all floors within the home are made of real wood. Further in line with the client’s request of natural material usage, even the sound system consoles are made of timber.
A glance away, in the same open concept space as the living area, is the dry kitchen. The surface that makes up the dry kitchen counters, backsplash and island is a special natural marble that comes with an unmatched je-ne-sais-quoi element of imperfection. Built into the dry kitchen millwork is a wine cooler and microwave for easy access from the living area. The island base features a corroded copper finish and is further complemented by the helical spring pendant light that exudes a copper shade of glow. To the right, a pristine glass door opens into the wet kitchen.
As one walks down the hall leading to the private areas of the home, it is easy to notice the exclusive velvet textured paint. Resembling natural stone, this thoughtful touch by InD’finity Design helps in fostering the sense of tranquility as desired by the homeowner. The master bedroom is awash in a soothing beige palette, and hidden warm lights run the entire length of the room, giving the space a gentle incandescence designed for shelter. Tying in with the living area, the base of the TV wall and the workstation in the master bedroom is also accentuated with fluted wood panelling.
Within the poised second bedroom, several features stand out to make the space pop. The design studio behind this home expertly shows how serenity can come with character. A funky chestnut bedside table sits across a twisted speckled marble nightstand on opposite sides of the bed. The wall panel above the bed headboard extends to the ceiling and curves right before it touches the top, forming a refined curve and adds personality to the room. A black and white contour painting of a vintage Volkswagen hangs near the bed, inserting some whimsy into the heart of the space.
At Mr. Lim’s Condo, there is noblesse in imperfection and InD’finity Design’s belief shines through within this residence. Their ethos of curating with utmost care comes from the design house’s awareness of their power in being able to help create life-changing environments for their clients. InD’finity Design does not only design houses or commercial lots, but rather, homes and spaces that upgrade its users’ quality of life through transformative design that exist solely to serve. Come along, this home invites all to take a moment to slow down and find beauty in the transience of life and the imperfections of nature.
